Holy Toldedo Batman

All I can say is wow. What an experience. Even though we were tired and still extremely jet lagged, my comrade and I decided to spend our first say in Bangkok at the weekend market. Armed with a map and no idea where we were going, we headed out into the city. Everywhere we looked we saw something amazing! Tuk-tuk's, too many passengers crammed on tiny street bikes, and temples. Tons and tons of temples. We had lots of time to kill so we took our time looking for a cab and found ourselves in a random IT mall. But that's what we are here for, to explore!

We finally found our way to the subway...11 million people in Bangkok and apparently nobody takes the subway on a Sunday. Not that I'm complaining.

And then we found it! The weekend market! Words can not even begin to describe it. Pictures don't do it justice either. It was incredible. Every single square inch of the place was packed, with people and with stores. People weren't joking when they said the shopping here was amazing! Everything was 100 baht or less...which is 3.19 US. We took full advantage of that.

Nobody was on the subway because they were all at the market....

We stopped for lunch at a little cafe in the market and had pad thai and some live entertainment, then headed back to rest our weary little heads, All in all it was a great day, the perfect way to start our trip. I think I am in love with this country. Bye for now.

  1. Hi Mackenzie,

First this is an interesting way to introduce ourselves, BAM & Ruggy, Mick's grandparents. We had already posted a comment but noticed it does not appear on your Blog. The one we sent to Mick is there.

We think it is absolutely wonderful and exciting for you both to be on this adventure to Thailand. The Blogs are a great way for us to travel around with you. Just in case you did receive our comments I will not repeat all the message but find your writing excellent and very interesting. You are a natural. Terrific that you met such nice people and struck up an instant friendship today. The pictures have been wonderful but since you will be on the course for the next week we will have to wait a few days for our next trip through Bangkok. Look forward to the next issue.

Hopefully, the message will post on your Blog.

    BAM & Ruggy
